Toy Story 5 teaser paves the way for a LEGO Pixar summer in 2026

Pixar has debuted the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5, which reminds us some toys will never get to rest – and paves the way for a targeted LEGO Disney wave in summer 2026.

LEGO and Toy Story are familiar bedfellows by this point, having come together first for the premiere of Toy Story 3 in 2010, then again for Toy Story 4 in 2019. And most bookmakers would surely give you even odds on the two reuniting in summer 2026 for Toy Story 5, which sees Woody, Buzz and the gang back to face the terror of Bonnie turning into an iPad kid. (Don’t question why Woody is there when he noped out at the end of the last movie.)

To Pixar’s credit, the animation this time round looks even more impressive than in Toy Story 4, so if nothing else this franchise is turning into a great showcase for how far the studio has come since the first film landed 30 years ago. From a LEGO perspective, the big gear shift happened in 2019, when the LEGO Group abandoned the specially-moulded minifigure heads produced in 2010 in favour of standard pieces.

It’s tough to see that changing again in 2026 (if LEGO Toy Story 5 sets are indeed on the way) given a steady stream of recent Toy Story-themed sets have stuck resolutely to that classic minifigure design language, including this year’s 43264 Toy Story Celebration Train & RC Car and gift-with-purchase 40774 Classic Animation Scenes.

At the time of writing, two LEGO Toy Story sets are rumoured to be arriving next year, though neither is explicitly tied to the sequel just yet. 43301 Toy Story Slinky Dog Book Nook is said to be an 18+ set launching in April, with 1,311 pieces for $149.99, while 43304 is rumoured to cost $49.99 and debut on the same day. Not much else is known about that one right now beyond a connection to Toy Story, however.

Toy Story 5 is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on June 19, 2026, so chances are good that any tie-in LEGO sets planned would drop next summer. That’s still just speculation at this stage, mind – nothing is confirmed so far...
