LEGO Star Wars UCS N-1 shines, but it's not the shiniest set

LEGO Star Wars 75442 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter has many shiny drum-lacquered silver elements, but it's far from the shiniest set ever made.

This year's May the 4th 2026 model has been announced as 75442 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter, recreating the modified Naboo vessel from The Mandalorian with most of the original ship's signature metallic sheen.

This shine is achieved through the use of 53 total drum-lacquered silver elements. These make it more accurate to the ship seen in The Mandalorian, while continuing the legacy of 10026 Special Edition Naboo Starfighter.

Despite the metallic finish using a fair few drum-lacquered elements, it is far from the shiniest LEGO set ever released by that metric. It manages to top the 12 chrome elements in 2002's 10026 Special Edition Naboo Starfighter, but falls behind when considering other colours of metallic elements.

LEGO Marvel's popular Infinity Gauntlet model, now retired, has 153 metallic gold pieces mixed with the brown parts to recreate the reflective effect of the prop. Even that falls short of two other recent releases, though.

Both 31213 Mona Lisa and 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy easily surpass 300 drum-lacquered gold elements each, with the LEGO Editions model in the top spot. It has the most shiny elements, whether chrome or drum-lacquered, of any LEGO set ever released. That said, we're still a long way from a fully-metallic LEGO  J-type 327 Nubian royal starship set.

75442 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter is still notable in the category of silver pieces, specifically, and will be available from May 1 for LEGO Insiders for £229.99 / $249.99 / €249.99. It launches alongside an array of May the 4th deals, of which you can find out more by reading our dedicated page.
