LEGO Star Wars 50th anniversary exclusive minifigures rumoured for 2027

Next year’s LEGO Star Wars sets are rumoured to include exclusive minifigures to mark the 50th anniversary of the wider Star Wars franchise.

According to BrickTap, a ‘wave of anniversary minifigures’ will be bundled inside LEGO Star Wars 2027 sets, presumably following the same approach as the 25th-anniversary minifigures in 2024. Where those characters celebrated 25 years of the LEGO Star Wars theme specifically, though, 2027’s counterparts will apparently acknowledge 50 years of Star Wars as a whole.

This would actually be the third time the LEGO Star Wars team has included bonus minifigures in sets to celebrate an anniversary. In 2019, a one-off wave of 20th-anniversary sets resurrected retro versions of minifigures from the original LEGO Star Wars line-up, including Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader.

The 25th-anniversary minifigures took a slightly different approach, instead recreating characters we’d never seen before and were unlikely to get in regular sets. Among those were ARC Trooper Fives, Darth Malak, QT-KT, Young Princess Leia, Saw Gerrera, Cal Kestis and Nien Nunb.

It’ll be interesting to see what the LEGO Star Wars team has up its sleeve for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. Given the focus here is on the wider franchise rather than the LEGO theme specifically, something that tips its hat to the origins of the saga or the full 50-year history would feel fitting.

The current list of rumoured LEGO Star Wars sets for 2027 includes a variety of playsets and display sets, but if the designers follow the same approach as in 2024, it would be reasonable to expect these anniversary minifigures to appear across a wide mixture of models (rather than exclusively playsets, for example).
