By making its biggest set ever a depiction of a religious building, the LEGO Group has shown that culturally significant religious landmarks are firmly on the table for the LEGO Architecture theme.
21065 LEGO Architecture Sagrada Família was announced earlier this week as a 12,060-piece recreation of the world's largest church. It marks the second time in recent years that the LEGO Architecture theme has ventured into Christian architecture, following 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris.
The trend so far suggests that when a building becomes so culturally significant that it transcends its religious origins, the LEGO Group is willing to tackle it.
As such, the possibility of more famous churches joining the LEGO Architecture range feels more realistic than ever. Here are five that would make stunning LEGO sets.
Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey would be a natural next step for the theme. One of the United Kingdom's most important cultural landmarks, it has hosted coronations since 1066 and serves as the final resting place of figures including Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton.
Its Gothic architecture would translate beautifully into a detailed LEGO model.
St Peter's Basilica

As the centrepiece of Vatican City and the most important church in the Catholic faith, St Peter's Basilica attracts millions of visitors every year.
Its cultural significance and instantly recognisable dome make it an obvious candidate, while its intricate interior could inspire one of the most detailed LEGO Architecture sets ever produced.
Cologne Cathedral

Few buildings are as instantly striking as Cologne Cathedral. Its twin spires and highly detailed Gothic exterior would likely demand a huge piece count, while its darker colour palette would give it a unique presence in the LEGO Architecture range.
Duomo di Milano

The Duomo di Milano is one of Italy's most recognisable landmarks. Rather than sheer size, its appeal lies in its extraordinary exterior detail, particularly its ornate façade and 135 spires.
Recreating those features in LEGO bricks would be challenging for the builder, but the results could be spectacular.
St Basil's Cathedral

Although the LEGO Group's withdrawal from Russia in 2022 makes such a set unlikely, St Basil's Cathedral would be a visually stunning model.
Its colourful onion domes and asymmetrical design would create one of the most distinctive and eye-catching LEGO Architecture sets imaginable.
For now, the only church on the LEGO Group's horizon is 21065 LEGO Architecture Sagrada Família, which launches on November 1. Priced at £649.99 / €749.99 / $799.99, the 12,060-piece set is available to pre-order now from LEGO.com.
